TMC Challenges Modi Government's Rapid Women's Quota Bill Movement

The Trinamool Congress criticizes the Modi government for its rushed approach to the women's quota bill, suggesting it threatens democracy. The Trinamool Congress has raised concerns about the urgency of the Modi government's push for the women's quota bill, deeming it a tactic to alter electoral processes and harm democratic practices.

Speaking in the Lok Sabha, TMC MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar criticized the timing of this legislative push, suggesting it coincides with assembly elections to gain political leverage. Dastidar referred to recent polls in Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, and upcoming votes in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal.

Emphasizing TMC's commitment to women's representation, Dastidar pointed out that while the party supports increasing the quota, the drafted bills might lead to an authoritarian delimitation commission. Parliament is poised to vote on the bills, aimed at expanding Lok Sabha seats, in the current session.
