A sessions court has sentenced 10 CPI(M) cadres to varying jail terms totaling 25 years for the attempted murder of RSS-BJP workers in 2011. The sentencing stems from a violent incident where a bomb was thrown at a vehicle carrying the RSS-BJP members, resulting in severe injuries to nine individuals.
The Taliparamba Additional District and Sessions Judge, Prasanth K N, punished T V Binu, known for throwing the bomb, with 25 consecutive years. The remaining nine accused, who participated in the attack, received varying jail terms with a maximum of 10 years served concurrently.
The court also imposed fines of Rs 2.6 lakh on each convict. The attack followed disputes over the setup of an RSS branch, highlighting ongoing tensions. This legal decision underscores the seriousness with which the court views politically-motivated violence.
