A Delhi court has placed Rahul Meena, a 19-year-old domestic worker accused of a heinous crime, into seven days of judicial custody. The decision came on Monday after Chief Judicial Magistrate Deepika Thakaran agreed to the Delhi Police's request for extended interrogation time.
Meena, accused of the rape and murder of a 22-year-old IIT graduate—the daughter of a senior Indian Revenue Service officer—was produced in court as his initial four-day police custody concluded. The incident is said to have occurred at the victim's upscale residence in the southeast Delhi locality of Kailash Hills on April 22.
Additionally, Meena is implicated in the sexual assault of another woman in Alwar, Rajasthan, which allegedly took place just hours before the murder. This case raises serious questions about security and safety within domestic settings in India.
