Two habitual offenders were detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda on Wednesday and lodged in Udhampur district jail, officials said. Police said that the preventive action was taken to maintain public order and curb criminal activities in the district. One of the accused was identified as Mohd Rafiq of Sekwan Beoli in Doda. He was allegedly involved in several theft and snatching cases, they said. There are four cases against him under various sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), they said. Another detained person, identified as Din Mohd of Dhar Dashnan, was also allegedly involved in multiple criminal cases, they said. The police said dossiers were prepared against both accused and submitted to the competent authority, which subsequently issued detention orders under the PSA.
