UAE Intercepts Ammunition Shipment Bound for Sudan

The United Arab Emirates charged 13 defendants and six companies with attempting to transfer ammunition to the Sudanese army. The shipment was intercepted before reaching Sudan, reportedly linked to Sudan's army chief. Sudanese Armed Forces deemed the report a fabrication.

The United Arab Emirates has moved decisively to prosecute 13 individuals and six companies accused of attempting to traffic ammunition through UAE territory intended for the Sudanese army. This was reported by the state news agency WAM on Thursday.

According to prosecutors, the suspicious cargo was stopped before it could be loaded onto a private aircraft. The ammunition's procurement was allegedly orchestrated by a committee chaired by Sudan's army chief, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, as detailed by WAM.

In a 2025 incident, UAE authorities intercepted millions of rounds of ammunition at an airport, which were reportedly being illegally sent to Sudan's military. At that time, the Sudanese Armed Forces dismissed the claims, labeling them as fabrications.
