The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has announced that the maritime security threat level in the Strait of Hormuz remains critical. This announcement comes on behalf of the Joint Maritime Information Centre, highlighting the impact of ongoing regional military activities.
Mariners in the area have been advised to maintain continuous coordination with Omani authorities using VHF channel 16. This measure is part of efforts to mitigate risks in the increasingly volatile region.
Furthermore, the UKMTO recommends that vessels consider alternative routing through Oman’s territorial waters, beneath the traffic separation scheme. This area has been designated by the U.S. as having enhanced security protocols to ensure safety amid rising tensions.
