Croatian police revealed a grim discovery near Karlovac, where four migrant bodies were found alongside 15 survivors, some in critical condition. The group had been abandoned by a cargo vehicle near the Slovenian border, highlighting ongoing human trafficking practices.
The migrants, who faced inhumane conditions during their transportation, were left by an unknown driver, according to police reports. While two of the survivors required immediate hospital care, the remaining individuals were relocated to an asylum center.
As investigations proceed to identify the deceased and determine their cause of death, authorities underscore the involvement of Western Balkan criminal gangs in trafficking routes from Asia and the Middle East toward the EU.
