In a shocking incident in Maharashtra's Beed district, a man, identified as Mahesh Vishnu Somase, allegedly attempted to set his two young daughters ablaze over a family dispute, according to local law enforcement.
The distressing event unfolded in the village of Lahamewadi, Majalgaon tehsil, on May 2. Somase's wife, Ashwini, had been residing with her parents following a domestic conflict. On Saturday evening, Somase arrived at his in-laws' house, demanding that Ashwini return home with their children, aged 4 and 5. After Ashwini suggested involving community elders instead of immediate return, Somase allegedly threatened her and her family.
The situation escalated when Somase retrieved a can of diesel from his motorcycle, dousing his daughters with the fuel. An attempt to ignite them was averted by a relative who managed to wrest the matchbox from Somase's grasp. Police have filed a complaint, and investigations continue.
