The political atmosphere in Karnataka's Sringeri Assembly constituency has taken a dramatic turn, as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah accuses BJP candidate D N Jeevaraj of orchestrating a 'criminal conspiracy' to alter election results.
CM Siddaramaiah claims the recount manipulated valid postal ballots favoring Congress leader T D Raje Gowda. Initially victorious by 201 votes, Raje Gowda's lead diminished after recounts led to a shift, declaring Jeevaraj the winner by 52 votes. Allegations of vote tampering and subsequent legal actions underscore the contentious nature of this electoral battle.
The recount was ordered by Karnataka High Court after Jeevaraj challenged Raje Gowda's win. Accusations include improper behavior by the returning officer and multiple markings on ballots. In the face of this controversy, Siddaramaiah pledges transparency and free and fair elections, calling for a forensic examination and legal appeals.
