A high-level committee assembled by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla convened on Tuesday to enhance the legislative committee system. This initiative, spearheaded by Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar, is focused on uniformity and effectiveness across states.
In its second meeting, held at the Constitution Club of Rajasthan, the panel discussed several key measures. Presiding officers debated strategies to boost the involvement of lawmakers and standardize processes, with an aim to improve legislative committees' functionalities.
The findings and recommendations will be presented to the Lok Sabha Speaker in June. Further sessions may occur before finalization, underscoring the critical role these committees play in advancing democracy and accountability.
