Indian Army's Surveillance Leap: A Step Towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat

The Defence Ministry of India has signed a Rs 1,476 crore contract with Bharat Electronics Ltd for the procurement of five ground-based mobile electronic systems to enhance the Indian Army's surveillance and networking capabilities. The initiative emphasizes indigenous content and reinforces the government's Aatmanirbhar Bharat mission.

In a significant move aimed at bolstering India's defense capabilities, the Ministry of Defence has inked a Rs 1,476 crore contract with Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL). The contract is intended for the procurement of five state-of-the-art ground-based mobile electronic systems.

The Defense Ministry stated that these systems, expected to significantly enhance the Indian Army's surveillance and networking infrastructure, will feature at least 72 percent indigenous content. This contract falls under the 'buy (Indian-Indigenously designed, developed, and manufactured)' category.

This initiative is a part of the government's broader aim to promote self-reliance in defense manufacturing, reinforcing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make-in-India vision. The agreement was formalized in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.
