The Karnataka High Court has granted a stay on the FIR filed against BJP leader D N Jeevaraj. He was declared the winner from the Sringeri assembly constituency following a recount of votes initiated after the 2018 elections.

Originally, the assembly seat had been won by Congress candidate T D Raje Gowda. However, Jeevaraj's petition led to a recount of postal ballots, which eventually declared him victorious.

The FIR was based on allegations of tampering with postal ballots by Jeevaraj, along with two gazetted officers. Justice V Srishananda has now halted the FIR proceedings, asking the state government to present all related evidence in court.
