In a remarkable feat, the Election Commission of India's IT platform, ECINET, proved crucial to the seamless operation of Assembly polls across five states. This digital tool not only streamlined election processes but also bolstered transparency and reporting speed.
Launched officially in January 2026, ECINET has witnessed significant usage growth, surpassing 10 crore downloads. The platform managed to handle an impressive volume of data traffic, recording over 98.3 crore hits during poll days and an average of 3 crore hits per minute on counting day, May 4.
Furthermore, ECINET thwarted over 68 lakh cyber threats, ensuring secure elections. An innovative QR code-based photo identity card system was implemented at counting centers, marking a milestone in election security, with 3.2 lakh QR codes generated to control access effectively.
