A 48-year-old man in North Goa district was gored to death by a wild bison on Wednesday evening in Bethoda village, near Ponda town. The victim, Dinesh Gaude, was a Home Guard officer in the state police department.
Gaude was attacked by the bison while returning home on his two-wheeler. He was immediately taken to a hospital in Ponda, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, as confirmed by officials.
Addressing the tragedy, State Forest Minister Vishwajit Rane met with Gaude's family in Usgao village, pledging all possible support, including a government job for the victim's daughter and educational assistance for his two minor children. The minister described the incident as unfortunate and emphasized ongoing efforts by the forest department to prevent human-animal conflicts in the region.
