The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted extensive searches across Punjab and Chandigarh on Thursday, targeting premises linked to a high-profile land fraud case. The probe, which focuses on violations of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), involves several entities, including Suntec City project, ABS Townships, and associates.

Nitin Gohal, an IT professional, emerged as a key figure in the investigation. Allegedly connected to Rajbir Ghuman, Officer on Special Duty to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Gohal is accused of facilitating builders who defaulted on Greater Mohali Area Development Authority fees, potentially protecting them politically.

Amid the raids, a dramatic scene unfolded in Mohali's Kharar area, where cash was reportedly thrown from a high-rise. Social media posts, including one from SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia, highlighted the gravity of the situation. ED's actions coincide with an ongoing crackdown on politically-linked figures in Punjab ahead of the 2027 elections, adding a significant chapter to the unfolding political drama.
