Rajasthan's Anti-Corruption Bureau has intensified its probe into the infamous Rs 960-crore Jal Jeevan Mission scam with the arrest of Sanjay Badaya, considered the chief conspirator. The arrest occurred at Delhi airport, underlining the ACB's efforts to corral all involved parties.
Badaya was caught returning from Thailand and has now been remanded into three days of police custody after he was brought to Jaipur. Officials are investigating his role as a go-between in the massive corruption scandal.
The scandal had earlier seen Mahesh Joshi, a former Congress minister, spend seven months in jail before obtaining bail. With three suspects still at large, authorities continue in their pursuit of justice.
