The Haryana government is taking proactive steps to reinforce disaster preparedness through a statewide initiative aimed at enhancing emergency response mechanisms. This comprehensive exercise involves all departments and districts, ensuring that administrative actions during emergencies are swift and coordinated.
Sumita Misra, the Financial Commissioner of the Revenue & Disaster Management Department, has outlined the plan in accordance with the Haryana State Disaster Response Manual under the Incident Response System. This framework strengthens the infrastructure to minimize the impacts of disasters by defining roles and responsibilities clearly for all involved parties.
The state is preparing for a mock exercise on May 14, 2026, simulating a flood scenario across 13 flood-prone districts. The initiative aims to make Haryana’s administrative machinery highly responsive and ready to tackle challenges like floods, heatwaves, and industrial accidents effectively.
