JCD Prabhakar, a TVK legislator, was unanimously elected as the new Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker on Tuesday. Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay highlighted the assembly's role in transforming public expectations into actionable schemes and laws.
Addressing the assembly, Vijay stressed the importance of equality, valuing both ruling and opposition views. Prabhakar, alongside Deputy Speaker M Ravishankar, assumes office to navigate the house proceedings.
Prabhakar's nomination was unopposed, marking the start of his tenure with traditional escort by K A Sengottaiyan and Udhayanidhi Stalin. Ravishankar was also elected unopposed as the deputy speaker, ensuring streamlined house operations.
