The Anti-Corruption Bureau in Rajasthan has taken significant action against corruption by arresting Shekhar Mathuria, a senior assistant of the State Insurance and Provident Fund Department in Udaipur, for accepting a substantial bribe.

The arrest was made when Mathuria was caught red-handed accepting Rs 1 lakh, identified as the initial instalment of a total Rs 1.5 lakh bribe, as part of a settlement to process and increase the amount of a death claim case. Originally, Mathuria had demanded a steep Rs 7.5 lakh from the complainant to pass the insurance claim.

This operation, executed under the vigilant supervision of DIG Rameshwar Singh, has resulted in a case being registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, with further investigations ongoing to unravel more details of the corruption scandal.
