In a surprising development in Bihar's Gopalganj district, two police constables have been arrested for violating state prohibition laws by selling liquor. The officers, identified as Amit Kumar and Rahul Kumar, were apprehended with 333 litres of Indian Manufactured Foreign Liquor (IMFL).
The arrest was made after security personnel discovered the consignment inside a vehicle in Gopalpur locality on Tuesday evening. The constables were in civvies, indicating attempts to disguise their involvement in the clandestine activity, according to a statement from the district police.
With alcohol sales completely banned in Bihar since April 2016, the arrests have prompted the immediate suspension of both officers, and departmental proceedings are now underway against them.
