A property dispute in Odisha's Kendrapara district turned deadly as Golakh Chandra Nauri, a homeopathic doctor, was allegedly killed by his elder brother and other family members, police reported on Friday. The confrontation reportedly began with an argument over land on Thursday night.

During the altercation, Golakh was allegedly struck with a wooden plank, leading to severe injuries. Despite being rushed to local health facilities, he was declared dead at the district headquarters hospital. The police have arrested the brother, Abhaya Chandra Nauri, along with two other family members in connection with the crime. One suspect remains at large.

The authorities have initiated legal proceedings under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Golakh, also involved in politics as a CPI candidate in the 2014 Assembly elections, ran two clinics in the region.
