A recent laboratory test has verified that the tooth in a pendant worn by the rapper Vedan belongs to a leopard, forest officials announced on Saturday.
Vedan, whose birth name is Hirandas Murali, faced arrest under the Wildlife Protection Act back in April 2025. The charges emerged after a raid on an apartment revealed cannabis possession involving Vedan and eight others, alongside the animal tooth.
Following the laboratory's confirmation of the tooth's authenticity, the Forest Department is expected to file a prosecution report in court. During a previous bail hearing, Vedan had claimed ignorance about the pendant's origin, stating it was a fan's gift.
