A tragic incident unfolded in Madhya Pradesh's Niwari district, where a 16-year-old Dalit student committed suicide. The girl, who resided in Siyakhas village, had lodged a harassment complaint against a local youth, Abhishek Yadav, just days before her passing.
According to Prithvipur police station officer Jitendra Singh Gurjar, Yadav allegedly harassed the girl as she returned home from a temple. Following her accusation, authorities quickly booked Yadav and three others under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The accused allegedly coerced the girl's family to retract the complaint, creating an immense pressure that might have led her to take this drastic step. Yadav has since been apprehended, highlighting a distressing case of societal pressures and their deadly consequences.
