Germany's 10 Billion Euro Civil Defence Boost Amid Rising Security Threats

In a significant move, the German government is set to approve a 10 billion euro boost to its civil defence budget, aiming to strengthen domestic emergency preparedness alongside an escalating military expenditure.

This initiative, originating from the interior ministry, targets upgrading medical infrastructure, acquiring special vehicles, and fortifying public shelters, amid mounting threats from extremism and hybrid warfare.

Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt emphasized the urgency of civil defence investment, highlighting that these funds will also enhance Germany's alert systems, amidst the ongoing military spending surge following Russia's aggressions.
