Ballot Paper Mystery: FIR Registered as Panchayat Polls Approach
In Himachal Pradesh's Solan district, two ballot papers have gone missing ahead of the panchayat elections, prompting police to book eight people. The elections involve over 50.7 million voters and will be conducted in three phases, with results for various positions announced between May 30 and 31.

Authorities in Himachal Pradesh are in a race against time after two ballot papers went missing in Solan district ahead of the upcoming panchayat elections. The loss was detected during preparations in Kunihar, leading police to register an FIR against eight individuals. Tirumalaraju SD Varma, Solan's Superintendent of Police, confirmed the development to PTI.
The elections, which are set to occur in 3,754 gram panchayats across the state, will take place in three phases on May 26, 28, and 30. Positions at stake include 21,654 gram panchayat members, 3,754 pradhans, and 3,754 up-pradhans, among others.
With over 50.7 million voters registered, including first-time voters, the loss of ballot papers has raised security concerns. Election results for various roles will be swiftly announced on May 30 and 31, adding pressure to ensure a secure voting process.
