The West Bengal government has issued a directive to all departments and district administrations to implement strict expenditure-control measures. The directive, aimed at minimizing unnecessary spending, was issued by Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Agarwal on Monday.

The directive emphasizes prudent resource usage, energy conservation, and digital governance. Departments are urged to increase digital meetings and allow work-from-home arrangements to reduce fuel consumption and promote efficient resource use. The focus is also on promoting locally manufactured products and utilizing public transport and electric vehicles.

All departments are instructed to submit detailed action plans by May 22 and file monthly progress reports starting July 1. The move aligns with Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari's call for efficient state resource utilization and promotion of sustainability practices.
