A fire broke out in the record room of the district court complex here on Sunday afternoon, prompting authorities to rush 10 fire tenders to the spot, officials said.
No casualties were reported in the incident.
Prima facie, it appears that a short circuit might have induced the fire. Exact causes are yet to be ascertained, a fire officer said.
The blaze rapidly spread to other rooms inside the court and a portion of the building also collapsed, they said.
According to the officials, at around 12 noon on Sunday, smoke and flames appeared from the lower court's record room, following which the watchman alerted the fire department.
Initially, three fire tenders from Bhim Nagar fire station arrived at the scene. Later, 10 fire engines were pressed into firefighting operation.
