Cyber fraud racket busted in Haryana, four arrested

The Cyber Police Station team has busted a cyber fraud racket, arresting four accused who targeted victims across several states through fake calls and induced them to deposit money into various bank accounts.

The Cyber Police Station team of the district police here has busted an organised racket involved in cyber fraud and arrested four accused.

The accused would call people, identify themselves as officials from various institutions to gain their trust and then commit fraud by inducing them to deposit money into various bank accounts under the guise of fund transfers and processing fees, police said here on Monday.

The police said here that preliminary investigations have revealed that this gang was active across several states, victimising people through cyber fraud.

The police are currently subjecting the accused to intensive interrogation and investigations regarding other members linked to the gang, as well as associated bank accounts, are ongoing.

The police have recovered cash amounting to Rs 5 lakh, 24 cheque books, 12 ATM cards, 2 Aadhaar cards, 2 PAN cards, and various other materials, including forged documents from their possession.

The arrested accused have been identified as Mohammad Moshirul Haque alias Utsav Upadhyay from West Bengal, Bharat Janak Singh Kapadia alias Ram Prasad Nana from Maharashtra and Delhi natives Subhash Kumar and Sahil Gusain Manjawal, they said.

Police said that a special cyber team constituted under the direction of Mayank Mudgil, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Hisar, tracked down the accused by acting on technical intelligence, conducting a thorough examination of bank accounts and analyzing digital evidence.

During the investigation, it came to light that the accused were operating an organised network of cyber fraud.
