The BJP has characterized the Supreme Court's ruling on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) as a decisive setback for the Congress and other opposition parties, especially targeting Rahul Gandhi. The ruling, they claim, signals a failure of the opposition on multiple levels: moral, political, and constitutional.
The Supreme Court's endorsement of the Election Commission's authority to carry out a voter roll revision was seen as bolstering the constitutional mandate for impartial elections. BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi argued that this verdict discredits Gandhi's accusations against the SIR, urging him to reflect critically on his actions and rhetoric.
Trivedi also suggested that the Congress's credibility is waning due to its stance on various international and domestic issues, asserting that the party’s true nature has now been revealed. Echoing these sentiments, BJP's Pradeep Bhandari accused Gandhi and the Congress of favoring illegal infiltrators over Indian voters.
The Supreme Court ultimately dismissed challenges to the SIR exercise in Bihar, affirming that voter list management does not equate to questioning a person's citizenship, thereby reinforcing the need for accuracy in electoral rolls to sustain democratic integrity.
