A fierce altercation has unfolded between Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and opposition leader Rahul Gandhi over allegations of irregularities in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) examination processes. Pradhan accuses Gandhi of leveraging the issue politically, labeling him as frustrated by continuous electoral losses.
In response, Gandhi has questioned the allocation of CBSE's On-Screen Marking (OSM) contract to COEMPT, a company previously embroiled in controversy. He demands a judicial probe into the matter alongside an investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to expose potential malfeasance and protect student welfare.
Pradhan defends the role of CBSE, highlighting the implementation of secure and transparent evaluation procedures aligned with government policy. The minister assures corrective actions will follow any discovered anomalies, underscoring that this is not a time for political gamesmanship.
Gandhi counters, asserting that Pradhan's public deflection will not absolve his accountability. The Congress leader emphasizes the impact on nearly 18.5 lakh students and judges the Prime Minister’s silence negatively while questioning COEMPT's connections to the current administration.
