A cache of arms, explosives, and equipment used for arms production was discovered in a forested region near the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border. This operation was launched against Naxal groups by the Gadchiroli police, following tips from surrendered members, as reported by an official on Thursday.

The operation, known as 'Operation Antim Prahar,' initiated on May 27, led to the recovery of multiple weapons including an INSAS rifle and various homemade single-shot and 12-bore rifles. Security forces also seized two lathe machines among other machinery allegedly used in producing armaments. The operation resulted in the seizure of significant explosive materials, such as 25 kg of IEDs, two claymore mines, numerous detonators, and BGL-related equipment.

Performed jointly by the Gadchiroli police's C-60 commando unit and Chhattisgarh's District Reserve Guard, along with their Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, the mission targeted smuggled materials hidden approximately seven kilometers from the Kakur police station zones in Narayanpur, Chhattisgarh. According to law enforcement agencies, these hidden arsenals were likely intended for attacks against security forces. The destruction of on-site heavy machinery was part of efforts to nullify potential threats. Superintendent Ramesh emphasized the operation as a crucial strike against Naxal presence in the border area.
