Minister Promises Inquiry Following Ambulance Fuel Shortage Allegations

A pregnant woman lost her unborn child in Maharashtra, allegedly due to delays caused by a supposed diesel shortage for an ambulance. The health minister has promised a thorough investigation amid public outrage and social media scrutiny over the rural healthcare response.

In a tragic incident in Maharashtra's Hingoli district, the family of a pregnant woman claims that a delay in ambulance services, due to a purported diesel shortage, led to the loss of her unborn child. The accused shortage was rebuffed by the administration, which insists that fuel was available.

Responding to the public outcry, Public Health Minister Prakash Abitkar has assured a detailed probe. He emphasized that the infrastructure and budgetary provisions should have been adequate, and promised that if mismanagement is found, appropriate actions will be taken against those responsible.

The woman's family describes dialing emergency services, only to be told that a vehicle could not be dispatched. Eventually, they arranged private transportation to a medical facility, but the child could not be saved.

Officials, including Health Officer Kailas Shelke, maintain that an absence of the ambulance driver was to blame, not a fuel shortage. A show-cause notice has been issued as the inquiry continues, as citizens express frustration with rural healthcare services.
