Law enforcement authorities in Meerut have apprehended a 42-year-old suspect in connection with the murder of a 17-year-old girl who had been absent since mid-April. The arrest follows an investigation into the teenager's disappearance, which began upon her family's report to police late last month.
The victim, Anushka, was last seen on April 16. She was a class 12 student living in a school-related accommodation. Three investigative teams pursued leads, highlighting one Shyam Dhanak, who appeared to evade questioning by relocating to Chandigarh-Mohali.
Utilizing technical and intelligence efforts, authorities captured Dhanak. He confessed to killing Anushka, alleging a financial dispute led to the fatal confrontation. The accused reportedly attacked her with a brick and disposed of her body in a local drain.
The police recovered the teenager's remains and indicated that further charges would be levied against Dhanak as the investigation proceeds.
