Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla paid tribute to Maharana Pratap's enduring legacy at a ceremony in Udaipur, describing the land of Mewar as a timeless symbol of courage, honour and self-respect.

Speaking at the event, Shri Birla said Maharana Pratap's life continues to inspire generations through its message of sacrifice, patriotism and commitment to freedom. He noted that the legendary ruler chose a life of hardship over royal comfort so that he could defend the sovereignty of Mewar and protect the dignity of his people.

Mewar's Struggle Remembered as a Symbol of Courage

Shri Birla highlighted that Maharana Pratap fought with limited resources but unmatched determination. He said the warrior king's struggle, supported by the Bhil community and ordinary citizens, remains one of the most powerful examples of collective courage in Indian history. He described the Battle of Haldighati as more than a historical event, calling it a living symbol of resistance against oppression and a reminder of India's deep spirit of self-respect.

The Speaker also referred to the wider legacy of Mewar, recalling figures such as Maharani Padmini, Maharana Kumbha and Rana Punja, who continue to inspire national service and pride in India's heritage.

Youth Urged to Draw Strength from History

Linking the legacy of Maharana Pratap with India's present-day aspirations, Shri Birla called upon young people to embrace dedication, discipline and hard work in the journey towards building a Viksit Bharat. He said the values represented by Mewar's history remain deeply relevant as the country works toward becoming a developed nation. According to him, national progress must be rooted in commitment to public service and respect for India's civilisational values.

Shri Birla said a developed India will be shaped by both cultural pride and modern progress. He stressed that the country's future should reflect a strong balance between its rich heritage and new achievements in science, technology and development. He expressed confidence that the inspiring history of Mewar will continue to motivate future generations to live with courage, dignity and devotion to the nation.
