Bulgarian PM to meet Turkey's Erdogan on Monday amid migrant worries

Bulgaria's Prime Minister Boyko Borissov will meet Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on Monday, his office said, after a Turkish official said Ankara had opened its borders for migrants seeking to reach Europe.

Bulgaria and Greece, both European Union member states, beefed up security on their borders with Turkey on Friday as hundreds of migrants arrived there from Istanbul.

Earlier on Friday, Erdogan and Borissov discussed by telephone the migrant movements and the situation in Syria. Turkey made its decision to open its border with the EU in response to the escalating war in Syria, where 33 Turkish soldiers were killed by Russian-backed Syrian government forces.
