Uttarakhand, known for beautiful mountains, hill stations and Char Dhams, severely hit by tourist this season. This year more than seventeen lakh pilgrims have visited the Char Dhams which includes Yamunotri, Gangotri, Badrinath and Kedarnath. Tourist in other parts of Uttarakhand including Nainital, Mussoorie and other hill stations have thrown life out of gear.
As the heatwave continues in the plains, people from north India are rushing to hills station to get relieved, but this sudden jump on tourist and pilgrims in hill state has led to a chaotic situation. This led to many issues in the state including non-availability of cash and fuel, price hike, lack of accommodation at a reasonable price and traffic jams.
In Nainital, traffic jam has been the biggest issue since so many years in peak months, despite High Court order to district authorities on this matter there has been no improvement on the situation.
In Mussoorie also visitors witnessed a long halted traffic queue and many of them were also forced to spend nights in vehicles.
Chamoli: Vehicular movement affected on Chamoli-Badrinath Highway in Joshimath as number of visitors increase. District Magistrate Swati Bhadoria says, "queues in petrol/diesel pumps also led to traffic, so have directed pumps to remain open 24*7." #Uttarakhand pic.twitter.com/7762dPLpRx
