Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district Monday got its first All India Radio (AIR) FM station that was inaugurated by Union Minister Jitendra Singh. Congratulating the people of the district, Singh credited the hard work and dedicated efforts of the district administration for the establishment of the station in record time.

Radio has the ability to reach out to the people living in remotest parts of the state as well as country and making them aware about various schemes and programmes of the government, the Union Minister of State in Prime Minister's Office said. The establishment of a radio station in Udhampur was a long pending demand of the people of the district and will provide a suitable platform to the local artists of the area, added Singh.

The minister stressed that Udhampur and its adjoining districts were home to diverse cultures and the radio station will play a key role in reflecting the folk art of the region. A lot of young talent would also get an opportunity to showcase their creativity and help channelize their energy in a positive direction, he added.

Highlighting the achievements of the government, Singh said various initiatives had been taken by the present dispensation for equitable development of all three regions of the state. On the occasion, the Union minister also distributed Golden Cards and Health Cards to Ayushman Bharat beneficiaries of Udhampur district.
