AP Assembly passes resolution seeking reservation for converted Christians
Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh) [India], Feb 6 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh assembly on Wednesday passed a unanimous resolution appealing for providing reservation to the converted Christians as per their initial Scheduled Caste category.
With the resolution, the state government has appealed the central government to consider members of the Scheduled Caste community, who converted to Christianity, as belonging to their original caste only and apply reservations accordingly.
The resolution was introduced by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, and seconded by two Telugu Desam Party (TDP)MLAs.
After BJP MLAs in the house also supported the resolution, it was unanimously passed by the state assembly. (ANI)
