The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has rolled out CivitTwin, an AI-based system to accelerate building permit processes and increase transparency in Mumbai. Launched during the 'Mumbai Tech Week 2026' by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, this system marks a milestone in digital urban governance.
CivitTwin aims to conduct a virtual pre-scrutiny of proposals, identifying issues before formal submissions. This reduces delays due to repeated revisions, benefiting architects, developers, and ordinary citizens with quicker approvals. By automating compliance checks and scrutiny, the system minimizes manual intervention, enhancing efficiency and predictability in the approval process.
Developed over six months, CivitTwin is expected to optimize planning of roads, water, and transportation infrastructure through AI-driven analysis, aiding redevelopment and future urban expansion in Mumbai.
