Closely monitoring steps taken to contain West Nile Virus: Health Ministry

Health Ministry on Thursday stated that it is taking stock of the public health measures for controlling West Nile Virus in Kerala. Union Health Minister JP Nadda is closely monitoring the situation and has spoken to the Health Minister of Kerala in this regard, said officials. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has also been alerted and a close watch is being maintained at the Central and state level.

West Nile Virus (WNV) is a mosquito-borne disease. So far there are no reports of the virus spreading to other parts of the country, the Health Ministry noted.
