Election Commission issues notification for second phase Lok Sabha polling in Odisha

The Election Commission Tuesday issued notification for 35 assembly and five Odisha Lok Sabha seats which will go to the polls in the second phase on April 18. With this the process of nominations too began and will continue till March 26.

The nomination papers will be scrutinised on March 27, while candidates can withdraw their nominations on March 29, state chief electoral officer S Kumar said. The candidates have been asked to file their nominations between 11 am and 3 pm, as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI), he said.

The five Lok Sabha seats where polling will be held in second phase on April 18 are Bargarh, Sundargarh (ST), Balangir, Kandhamal and Aska. There are 35 assembly seats under these constituencies. The state will have simultaneous polling for Lok Sabha and the assembly in Odisha which will be held in four phases.
