Western Railways earns more than Rs 500 cr via sale of yard scrap in 2018-19

The Western Railway (WR) has earned a whopping Rs 517.41 crore by selling scrap material collected from its yards and stores offices in 2018-19, it said in a statement here It thus broke the previous record held by the Northern railway which had earned Rs 403 crore from scrap sale in2011-12

The Material Management team of the Western Railwayhad launched a massive drive to identify and dispose of scraplying in various railway premises under "Mission Zero Scrap",said chief PRO Ravinder Bhakar.
