A CRPF jawan was injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast triggered by Naxals in Kondagaon district of Chhattisgarh Thursday, police said. The incident took place in the evening near Korkoti village under Dhanora police station limits when a team of security personnel was escorting a polling team while it was on way back after conducting voting, a senior police official said.

After polling ended at 3 pm in Bedmamari polling station, the polling team was being evacuated under the protection of security forces, he said. Bedmamari falls in the Keshkal assembly segment, which is part of the Kanker Lok Sabha constituency where polling was held Thursday in the second phase.

When security forces were advancing through a hill near Korkoti village, Naxals triggered the IED blast, he said. "Constable Jagdish Naidu, belonging to the CRPF's 188th battalion, sustained splinter injuries in the explosion", he said.

No harm was reported to polling personnel in the incident, the official said. Naidu was admitted at a local hospital where his condition was said to be normal, he added.
