Six Naxals, four of them carrying rewards on their heads, were arrested Wednesday in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, police said. They were held near Kindrelpad village under Konta police station limits when a team of the district police force was out on a search operation, an official said.

The team had launched the operation from Konta and was proceeding towards interior forests. Near Kindrelapad, 500 km from Raipur, they spotted a group of suspected Naxals. Kunjam Sukka (30), Veko Raja (43), Muchaki Aayta (30), Kudam Joga (28), Madvi Lachhu (35) and Madvi Ganga (32) were nabbed after a short chase, the police official said.

Sukka was a member of the company no. 1 of `military battalion no. 1' of Maoists and carried a reward of Rs 8 lakh on his head, while Raja, head of Revolutionary Party Committee of the Naxals, was carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head, the official said. Lachhu, an area militia commander, and Ganga, a Jan-militia commander, were carrying rewards of Rs 1 lakh each on their heads, he added.

Lachhu was allegedly involved in a Naxal attack on March 11, 2017, in Bhejji area of Sukma in which 12 security personnel were killed, he said. Others were involved in attacks on police teams and torching of vehicles in the area, he added.
