Elderly man killed as car hits bicycle in Delhi's Civil Lines area

A 65-year-old man was killed after a car rammed into his bicycle in north Delhi's Civil Lines area, police said Thursday. The accident took place on Wednesday night when the victim took a right turn from a signal and the car, which was coming from the opposite direction, rammed into his bicycle, a senior police officer said.

The car was coming from Vidhan Sabha area and was on way to IP college in Civil Lines, he said. Prakash Tiwari, a resident of P&T Colony in Civil Lines, was rushed to the Trauma Centre, where he was declared brought dead by doctors, police said.

A case under Sections 279 (rash driving) and 304 (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the IPC was registered at Civil the Lines police station and the accused, identified as Gaurav Saxena, was arrested, the officer said. Saxena, a resident of Gandhi Nagar, was working as a driver for the past six months, he added.
