Ramalingam murder case: NIA begins probe

National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday began an investigation into the murder case of PMK functionary Ramalingam, according to officials. NIA raided up to 20 places in Tamil Nadu. The raids were mostly conducted in Thanjavur district where Ramalingam was murdered.

The investigating agency also conducted a crackdown on the activists of a radical outfit Popular Front of India (PFI). Ramalingam was killed after he was attacked by an unidentified gang on February 6 at Thirubuvanam in Thanjavur district of the state.

The case was handed over to the NIA by the Tamil Nadu police. (ANI)
