Jharkhand gets Rs 4,158cr sanction for afforestation drives

The Jharkhand government on Thursday received the Centre's sanction of Rs 4,158 crore for afforestation drives across the state, officials said here. The sanction letter was handed over to officials of the state government by Union Minister for Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Prakash Javadekar, at New Delhi.

The funds were granted by the Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA). "I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji and Union Minister for Forest, Environment and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar ji for sanctioning Rs 4158.02 crore from CAMPA fund to Jharkhand," Chief Minister Raghubar Das tweeted.

The union minister, in another tweet, said, "Handed over sanction letter for Rs 4158.02 Cr. to #Jharkhand for Afforestation #CAMPA. The issue which was pending for more than a decade has been resolved by @narendramodi govt."
