Cold, dry weather persists in Uttar Pradesh, rain likely next week

Cold, dry weather persisted in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday as a blanket of dense fog enveloped a few places in eastern and western parts of the state, the Met office said. State capital Lucknow recorded a minimum temperature of 5 degrees Celsius, three degrees below the normal mark and a high of 18.5 degrees Celsius.

With the minimum temperature settling at 2.6 degrees Celsius, six degrees below the normal mark, Churk, in Sonbhadra district was the coldest place in the state while Banda recorded a low of 4 degrees Celsius. According to the meteorological department, the weather is most likely to remain dry over the state on Sunday.

However, on January 13 and 14, rain is likely to lash parts of western Uttar Pradesh while the weather will remain dry in the eastern part of the state, the Met office said.
