Bilateral cooperation, literary exchange between Angola and Japan to increase

Angola's minister of Culture Carolina Cerqueira and ambassador of Japan, Hironori Sawada on December 10 discussed the establishment of bilateral cooperation in the cultural field. The two interlocutors focused on the exchange of experiences in different aspects of artistic life.
During the audience, Minister Carolina Cerqueira stressed the need to work on a bilateral legal basis for the promotion and exchange between the two States.
The talks focused mainly on the training and dissemination of music and artistic training, as well as in the performing arts and preservation of historical memory.
Carolina Cerqueira also pointed to the areas of library and archive management, with stress to the introduction of new technologies in the process of bibliographic organisation, as essential for the strengthening of cooperation between Angola and Japan.
The minister also mentioned the aspects related to the promotion of literary exchange between the two countries. She said that these aspects are crucial for the dissemination of the culture, customs and habits of the two peoples, in defence of their cultural identity.
In turn, the Japanese diplomat expressed his government's willingness to continue to support Angola. He highlighted the strengthening of cooperation in the field of culture which, according to him, will be reinforced in the exhibition of artistic and cultural events of Angola at Expo 2025, which will take place in Japan.
Hironori Sawada, who described as excellent the level of cooperation with Angola. He defended joint work to ensure contact between the two people and knowledge on what is produced in terms of culture in the two countries.
Bilateral cooperation between the governments of Angola and Japan started in 1988 as an Emergency Aid for this Asian country through UNICEF.
Angola and Japan established diplomatic relations in 1976.
