Kibo Energy renews MoU with Electricidade de Mocambique

The renowned Africa-focused energy company, Kibo Energy PLC has renewed and extended its MoU agreement with Electricidade de Mocambique. As a popular Mozambican state-owned electric utility, Electricidade de Mocambique deals with generation, transmission, distribution and sale of electricity.
The renewal-cum-expansion of MoU between Kibo Energy and Electricidade de Mocambique is aimed to advance the financing, construction and operation of the Benga Independent Power Project in Mozambique.
“We continue to make excellent progress in Mozambique with the development of Benga advancing according to plan,” Chief Operating Officer of Kibo Mining, Louis Coetzee said.
“The renewal and expansion of this MOU with EDM is demonstrative of the significant local stakeholder support for the Project and we look forward to 2019 with confidence,” Louis Coetzee added.
According to the main highlights of the projects, Electricidade de Mocambique is committed to help and cooperate towards the successful development of Benga in Mozambique. Strong local stakeholder support for Benga with energy supply a major government priority in the development of the country.
According to the MoU terms and conditions, Kibo Energy will continue to work on relevant studies in association with Termoeléctrica de Benga for designing and implementing the project, African Review noted. Then the project will be reportedly submitted to Electricidade de Mocambique including Ministry of Energy and Minerals (MIREM) for approval.
